To the Bac Ha Market on Wheels

This tour incorporates the cool experience of riding a boat and bicycles so that you can obtain the best perspective on the local beauty The route for biking is nothing like the usual roads that you may roam at home. Instead, it is a rather challenging route which inquires for intermediate level of fitness. The route follows the downstream of the beautiful Chay River with stunning landscape along its course. The first day of the journey, you board on a boat at Coc Ly. There, your boat travel along the flow. It is an unforgettable moment as you can watch beautiful caves along the river bank with a cloudy feeling. The next day is a Sunday in which you have a coffee before a walk to the old villa of the ex- Hmong King. He was a notorious power figure in the region trading opium and salt in collaboration with French Colonizers. His villa is a bizarre combination of East West tradition. It is purely strange then verges on being outlandish. The prime of the trip continues with a walk to the famous Bac Ha Market where you can meet up with local tribes in their colorful costumes for a Sunday farmer market. After lunch, you can visit some more villages before heading back in either car or bicycle. The trip may start at either Lao Cai Station or Sapa upon your request.

Day 1 (Saturday): Lao Cai – Coc Ly – Boat Trip – Bac Ha
After breakfast, you can either take a car or bicycle trip to Coc Ly, where the boat ride with the flow of Chay River begins. Along the journey, you are able to witness amazing sceneries of the wonderful grottos on the riverbank. Lunch is served on route or later in Trung Do village of Tay minority, where you spend time learning their unique culture. When lunch, you continue cycling through the village and pass a narrow stream to Bac Ha town. You spend that night in a hotel with diner in a local restaurant.
Day 2 (Sunday): Bac Ha - Lao Cai.
After having a morning coffee, you walk to the old castle of the former Hmong King for a visit, then head to the local market where ethnic tribe such as Flower Hmong, Phu La, Black Dao, Tay, Nung gather for trading goods. Spending the entire morning at the market, you will then have tasty lunch on a local restaurant. After lunch, you might travel to Ban Pho village of Flower Hmong and Nung minorities, then return to Lao Cai by either cars or bicycle. You have adequate time for relaxing and having dinner before getting on train to Hanoi.
